TOKYO (December 22) – World champion Eri TOSAKA stormed from behind to defeat rival Yuki IRIE in the women’s 48kg final on the second day of the All-Japan national wrestling championships.

TOSAKA fell behind early in the 48kg final at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium complex, but locked up a cross-ankle hold and hit a series of turns for a 14-4 win by technical superiority and her second national championship crown.

Meanwhile, world bronze medalist Sara DOSHO tagged 2012 world team member Kayoko KUDO with a technical fall for her third straight all-Japan crown.

In men’s freestyle, Sosuke TAKATANI, a seventh-place finisher at the world championships, avenged a loss to Ryoichi YAMANAKA in the National Sports Festival with a technical fall in the final to stand atop the all-Japan medals podium for a third year in a row.

In greco-roman, London 2012 entry at 66kg Tsutomu FUJIMURA made a successful move to 74kg for his first all-Japan crown at his new weight and third overall.

Meanwhile, National Sports Festival champion Tsukasa TSURUMAKI also made a successful move to a heavier weight to win his first all-Japan title at 84kg and fifth overall. World teammate Shori MAEKAWA repeated as national champ at 120kg.
